A Wedding and a Halloween Party
Hello again! So I'm feeling a bit guilty about the fact that I haven't posted in so long! So much has happened in the last few weeks that it's just flown by. I had a friend stay with me for 5 days, in the middle of which we went away for a weekend to attend a friends wedding. It was such a beautiful wedding with a lot of the decorations being DIY, giving the wedding a personal touch. I especially loved the signs and chalk board everywhere - such an awesome idea!
Last friday night I experimented with doing sugar skull makeup on myself for the first time, as I headed off to a friends Halloween party. I wish I took a photo of the setup at the party - it was amazing! So much thought and preparation went into the amazing food. Everything from a heart (capsicum surrounded by sausages), gizzards (squid ink pasta with cherry tomatoes and garlic), graveyard cheesecakes and a tombstone tiramisu were served. My makeup was reasonably easy - just white, black and red face paint, black eyeliner and a few brushes did the trick. I started with the white base, then surrounded my eyes with a thick layer of black eyeliner so I didn't have to paint too close to my eyes. I then painted the black outline around my eyes and filled it in. The red floral decoration surrounding my eyes was done with red paint on the tip of a thin brush as spots. I then used the black eyeliner again to draw the black lines over my lips, and black paint for the feature lines on my cheeks with some shading along my jaw line. Overall I was quite impressed given the small amount of time I had and the fact that it was my first attempt.
