Knitting 101 with Laneway Learning
Last week I went to my first Laneway Learning class to learn how to knit. I've been trying to get into a Laneway Learning class for a while now, however they always seem to fill up so fast, which I guess is a great thing for the organisers. Knitting 101 was run by Lucie and was the perfect way to get a basic hold on how to cast on, knit and pearl. In fact, I've already managed to start my own scarf! I'll save the pictures for when it's complete, but in the meantime I'll share my learning and inspiration. The below photo shows the materials that we were given in the class with Lucie - some instructions, a ball of wool and knitting needles. Lucie, the teacher, also did live demonstrations as well as playing a video in the background on each technique.
So I'm pretty sure that the below scarf by Makerland is actually made for children, but I'm going to ignore that fact and use it as inspiration for an adult scarf. I'm thinking about possibly using the same wool from the scarf itself to make the pom poms, rather than going for the contrasting look. I'm also considering making smaller pom poms, sticking with a square ended scarf and attaching the pom poms to the corners. Stay tuned for the end product!
